About a month ago I was visiting friends in New Orleans for a few weeks. I usually travel down south a few times a year. This was my first time traveling during hurricane season. I’m usually present during Mardi Gras. The weather was beautiful and the nights were warm. I spent a lot of time in and around the city. During the day we had coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. If you have not been to Cafe Du Monde, I highly recommend it!

By evening we were experiencing fine dining. At night we would stroll in and out of hip bars and hookah cafes and take the trolleys back home.

One weekend we drove to Florida and walked the beaches. The ocean was beautiful and it was hot out. It made for great memories. When we got back I was too tired from the sun and heat to cook the next day. Luckily all we needed was the meat from the grocery store. This recipe is so simple and delicious. Thanks Matt for sharing!

This recipe for crock pot coca cola roast beef is to die for. It literally sat in the crock pot all day while we were gone. When we came home the house smelled of good food, it reminded me of home.

I must note that we did not do a lot measuring ingredients, so use your judgment as to what might taste good. A great recipe for a slower cooker pot roast.

        1. I would rather add the carrots and potatoes after I get home from work . How long do you think it would take for them to cook ?

          1. 1-3 hours, although you can turn it on high and it will cook faster. Hope this helps.

Looks great…I’m just confused on how long to cook this.

So 4-6 hours on “Low”…but what do you mean by 8-18 hours sitting in the crockpot? I have a slow cooker that is a Crockpot brand, but it can get kinda hot even on the “Low” setting. Do I set it to the “Warm” setting after the 4 to 6 hours?

It’s not one with a timer or temperature setting…so I’m just curious. I’ll be around the house while I cook it, so I can keep an eye on it. Just wondering how long to let it cook…so I can plan ahead for dinner. Great site BTW…actually got here looking at examples of this WP theme.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Ed, the roast beef should cook on low setting anywhere between 8-18 hours. It really is a preference on how soft you would like the meat. Usually, I will put the pot roast in early in the morning and cook it until I’m either ready to eat or how juicy I like the meat. After 4-6 hours check the meat and juices, if juices are running low, add a little more. Usually at 8 hours the meat is still a little tough but it can be eaten (and I do eat it) and after 12 hours the meat falls apart and is very juicy (very good). It’s a personal preference to how tender you like it. It should stay on low setting. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  3. I want to make this for my wife, i don’t eat beef though.
When you say 2 lb Roast beef, is that a cut of meat or do you mean a cooked roast beef? sorry for the dumb question!

    1. Jasmine, a 2 pound cut of meat, raw which you will then slow cook in the crock pot for numerous hours. I understand, I used to be a vegetarian for years and I didn’t like to eat or cook meat for others; no dumb questions here, promise 🙂
If you need help on a selection of meat, ask the Deli workers at the grocery store and they may recommend where you can find a good cut.

Do I add the carrots and potatoes to the crockpot? Doesn’t specify but is it safe to assume?

    1. Kathryn, carrots and potatoes can be added. I like to add when I put the meat in the crockpot early in the day.
