If dual-wielding is your thing, then you'll love the way you can dance around monsters in a whirlwind of attacks with dual blades in Monster Hunter Rise. But even if you stick solely to this agile class of weapon, there's still a slew of weapon trees to choose from, and now that the PC port has landed on Steam, green and seasoned hunters alike will be looking to fine-tune their weapon collections for the hunt.

That's where we come in. After participating in the beta, we've pulled together a thorough list of our favorite dual blades based on their elemental affinities. If dual blades are your primary weapon, this is your one-stop-shop for the best dual blades in MHR, no matter what you're hunting.
Updated on July 15, 2022 by Kim Dailey: Because a weapon's elemental affinity isn't always the end all be all in determining the best weapon for the hunt, we've flushed out our entries to discuss some of their enhancements. Just keep in mind that these stronger blades may lose some or all of their elemental impact.

13 Rain Of Gore (Paralysis)
The Rain of Gore blades from the Jelly Weapon Tree strike a delicate balance of power, accuracy, and stunning effects when you think some paralysis debuffs would come in handy,
The blades start with a base attack of 180 and an 18 Paralysis Effect. But pile on the Rampage Skills Paralysis Boost, Attack Boost Rank Two, and Affinity Boost Rank Three, and you'll have a set of shockingly effective dual blades.
12 Sinister Famineblades (Blast Element)
The Sinister Famineblades are the strongest blades along the Magnamalo Weapon Tree with an even 200 attack with a 20 Blast Element. This is a significant stat pairing as it's unusual to get blades with evenly robust base and elemental outputs.
Being a set that doesn't suffer an affinity debuff makes these blades even more one of a kind. You can then build the Sinister Famineblades set a few different ways, but it's best to continue honing the blades' blast effects.
11 Rampage Twinblades S (Sleep Element)
The Rampage weapon trees are versatile branches that can be built for different elemental strengths. In the case of the dual blade class, the Rampage S class is the strongest in base attack and best suited to cover any sleep debuffs you may need for capturing or slaying monsters.
They have a solid 210 starting attack stat, and piling the Rampage Skills, Affinity Surge and Sleep Rank Two will ensure these blades perform their best.
10 Diablos Mashers (No Element)
The Diablos Mashers from the Bone Weapon Tree are some of the strongest dual blades in the game, with a 250 base attack and 16 defense. Hunters will have to compensate for its -15 percent Affinity, but that's not as significant a setback as it may seem with the Rampage Skill, Affinity Boost Three.

The Diablos Mashers can also be built up with a defense boost to make them one of the most reliable weapon sets you could have with you on the hunt.
9 Ashigara Axes (No Element)
If you prefer not to contend with negative affinity, the Ore Weapon Tree has a set of Ashigara Axes, a sharper pair of blades with a neutral affinity, and a staggering 220 base attack with options for enhancements.
These dual blades are built for the offensive, prioritizing a Rank Three Attack Boost over ramping up its affinity. But placing a bit of weight on defense is still a good idea. We suggest using Rampage Skills such as Defense Boost Rank Two and Dulling Strike.
8 Gnashing Flammenschild (Fire Element)
Further along the Ore Weapon Tree is the Flammenschild branch. More specifically, you'll be looking to upgrade to the Gnashing Flammenschild dual blades that fall just short of the Diablos Mashers power, with a 230 base attack. Hunters will have to deal with the same -15 percent affinity setback, but that's nothing an Affinity Boost can't fix.
Its modest 18 Fire Element can also be heated up a couple of notches with a Fire Boost Rank Three, and the Brutal Strike Rampage Skill thrown in there can make this build terrifyingly deadly. And if you find in time this firepower is no longer cutting it on dangerous hunts, it's possible to turn up the heat even more by enhancing the blades to the Gnashing Flammenschild+ which deal out an incinerating 270 base attack.
7 Wyvern Lovers (Fire Element)
Again, some hunters may not want to contend with negative affinity, which makes the Bone Weapon Tree's Wyvern Lovers a great alternative. When built up correctly, they can get even stronger than the Gnashing blades.
Its 200 base attack and flaming 28 Fire Element get boosted further with Rampage Skills such as Attack Boost Rank Three, a Fire Boost, and an Element Exploit.
6 Despot's Blitz (Thunder Element)
The Despot's Blitz dual blades from the Kamura Weapon Tree can let forth a surge of power and are stout blades to carry about even before building them up. With an even 200 base attack and a firm 25 Thunder Elemental, these blades are a reliable choice as soon as you're able to craft them.

Throw on a couple of higher-tier Attack and Thunder Boosts and these blades will be able to contend with the deadliest in the game. Dual wielding is all about whirling up a storm of blade strokes into a fluid dance and with the Despot's Blitz pair, you'll be striking down monsters left and right. And if you do come across a monster able to withstand blows from this electrifying set, you can bolster them even more to the Despot's Blitz+ which enhances the blades' base attack to 300.
5 Dual Chameleos (Poison Element)
When you know you're going to need some poison damage, the Dual Chameleos blades should be your go-to pair. They can be crafted in their own weapon tree and have a healthy 190 base attack, but it's the 40 Poison elemental damage you're really after.
By applying Affinity and Poison Boosts you can lace the blades with so much deadly poison and critical success, a robust core attack will hardly matter. Some hunters may still guffaw at the less than 200 base damage, but never underestimate the art of poison. Not to mention the glowing blades make for quite the spectacle as the hunter flits around with their dance-like movements.
4 Fortis Gran (Dragon Element)
The Fortis Gran dual blades are the last enhancement along the Guild Weapon Tree. They are well-honed to slay dragons with a 24 Dragon Element, which is bolstered all the more by the Dragon Exploit Rampage Skill.
This set's modest 180 base attack doesn't hold it back when you stack on a Rank Four Attack Boost and the Master Rider Rampage Skill gives you an extra advantage against the large mythical beasts.
3 Gelid Soul (Ice Element)
The Gelid Soul dual blades are among the strongest along the Ore Weapon Tree, and certainly the best for their elemental class with a 25 Ice damage and 220 base attack. What's more, there's not any negative affinity to compensate for, which is a welcome sight among higher-tier blades.
Strengthening this set with Defense and Ice Boosts will round out the blades, making the Gelid Soul set one of the best dual blades a hunter could have on their back. But if their chilling power ever falls short, you can upgrade them to the Gelid Spirit and Gelid Spirit+, which boast formidable base attacks of 260 and 310, respectively.
2 Evening Dusk (Water Element)
The Evening Dusk set is an upgrade along the Morning Dawn branch of the Ore Weapon Tree. These blades strike a truly fluid balance of power and accuracy. They have a 200 Attack, 18 Water Element, and a 15 percent Affinity, giving the blades a strong foundation to build from.
Then with Rampage Skills such as Attack Boost Rank Three and Rank Two Affinity and Water Boosts applied, the Evening Dusk dual blades can whirl up a storm of fiercely accurate strikes. Not to mention the upgrades don't stop there. There are also the Evening Dusk+ blades that bump the weapon's base attack to 300.
1 Tigrex Claws (No Element)
If you want to fight like the feral Tigrexs you come up against in Monster Hunter Rise, and are willing to overlook a hefty 20 percent Affinity setback, the Tigrex Claws will allow you to tear monsters apart with ease. They are upgraded from the Rex Slicers II along the Hurricane branch of the Ore Weapon Tree.
They're some of the sharpest blades in the game and cut with a 230 base attack. This pair's Rampage Skills help give them their cutting edge with a rank three attack boost, rank two affinity boost, and the Brutal Strike skill. Once you've enhanced this set to the Tigrex Claws+, expect to be slashing through monsters with the ease of a 320 base attack.
