Granted they honoured 25 shows but I wonder if this could be a start of a renewed critical supporting for Girls5eva.
I recall believe any publication included it in the mid year lists?

Very curious to see what ends up being no. 1 on the aggregate this year. There doesn’t feel like a runaway favourite like there has been these past two years with I May Destroy You and Succession season 3 although I imagine there probably won’t be many lists this year excluding Abbott Elementary, Better Call Saul, The Rehearsal and Severance.
TV FYC: Juno Temple ("Fargo"), Tony Shalhoub ("Mr. Monk's Last Case"), Rashida Jones ("Silo"), The Curse, The Gilded Age and Slow Horses in all categories.

There are any other “major” releases in the next months besides The English, The Crown, Doom Patrol and His Dark Material?

Fleishman in Trouble, Welcome to Chippendales, 1899, Dead to Me season 3, The Sex Lives of College Girls and Slow Horses season 2.
Those are the only ones I can think of.

There are some notable omissions in that Polygon list. Hacks, OMITB, Reservation Dogs all made their list last year. Pachinko and The Bear missing is surprising as well since both seem well positioned for a top 10 placement overall.
A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.

This post made me remember when Killing Eve edged out the final season of The Americans for the top spot and then fell in quality almost as if it was karma for doing that 💀.
And then whilst Fargo didn’t have a drastic drop in quality after season 2 topped the 2015 list over the final season of Mad Men, it went from sweeping the winter awards to losing all the major Emmy categories it was up for to The People vs OJ Simpson.
If another show edges out the final season of Better Call Saul for the top spot…

The Americans finishing 3rd in 2018 is a good example of how a variety of factors affects these things. I agree with wolfali that there’s no runaway favourite here, or even a potential two horse race. At the moment at least. If I had to pick a show, I’d probably go with Abbott Elementary. Momentum is definitely on its side.
More wary about Better Call Saul than most. Even The Americans fumbled despite a much bigger final season hype and overall support throughout the years from critics. It was top 3/5 on the aggregate list numerous times in the past whereas BCS only managed to be in the top 5 once when the year was relatively much less competitive than others. The latter will place high but I don’t think a top placement is necessarily guaranteed.
A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.

Would also point out if you look at thetotalreviews for a bunch of shows, they’re kind of low so people will have blank spots.
There’s also things like The Rings of Power’s Metacritic being judged on only two episodes

Would also still add Wednesday, Kindred, Mythic Quest, The Kingdom and Dangerous Liaisons. Willow and National Treasure as well in terms or more commercial fare. Alice in Borderland might also get quite a few more eyeballs upon its return thanks to many checking it out post-Squid Game.

I have heard through the grapevine that people working on Kindred feel really confident.
Mythic Questprobablyends up positive, they like that show.
Wednesday has a loose social embargo and I’d be surprised if it ended up on the wrong side of positive.
Dangerous Liasons has a few reviews out and they’re kind of meh.
I think Mammals might end up with OK reviews its in a lot of previews.

This is the first I’m hearing of it premiering this year. Oof, the muted buzz…

Vulture has a pretty similar concept to Polygon (regularly updated throughout the year). Generally they weed their year end list and anything that doesn’t make the final cut is an honourable mention. List is in order by release date:
– Abbott Elementary
– The Righteous Gemstones
– Somebody Somewhere
– As We See It
– We Need to Talk About Cosby
– Severance
– Better Things
– The Dropout
– Starstruck
– Pachinko
– Julia
– Better Call Saul
– Barry
– Gaslit
– We Own This City
– Under the Banner of Heaven
– Girls5eva
– The Staircase
– Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
– Couples Therapy
– Conversations with Friends
– This is Going to Hurt
– Ms. Marvel
– P-Valley
– For All Mankind
– Flatbush Misdemeanors
– The Bear
– Would It Kill You to Laugh
– What We Do in the Shadows
– The Rehearsal
– The Last Movie Stars
– Harley Quinn
– Industry
– Reservation Dogs
– This Fool
– The Patient
– Andor
– High School
– Cabinet of Curiosities

I think this year is most likely going to Better Call Saul, its biggest competition is probably Severance which won the mid-year aggregate. Better Call Saul didn’t come close to the top in the mid-year but I feel pretty certain the second half of the season will boost it to the top.
What We Do in the Shadows usually does well, but not great, in the aggregate and Season 4 seems to have gotten a lot of critical support so I think it’ll continue to perform like it usually does, but not as good as Season 2.
I’ve seen a few critics already snub The Rehearsal because they feel it’s “unethical”, so that and the just overall strangeness of the concept will probably cost it the number 1 spot, but I’m expecting to see it in the top 5.
Guessing For All Mankind will probably float around 15-20, but I have seen a lot of mentions for it in “so far” lists in the second half of the year.
Barry did very well in the midyear even though there’s been a bit of a mixed reaction to this season, I’m expecting it to be in the top 5.
Atlanta definitely underperformed critically and I’ve seen very little about its fourth and final season. Kind of unbelievable for it to go from almost winning 2016, 2018, and doing very well in best of the 10s lists to being pretty unnoticed. It placed in the top 10 for the midyear, I was thinking Season 4 would boost it but I honestly feel like it’s going to drop even farther. Maybe the series finale will get it some attention.
The Dropout did really well in the midyear but I think it’s going to drop a bit, from top 10 to top 15.
Abbott is of course going to do amazing, if it places below top 5 I’ll be shocked.
